A valentine’s gift for you- crown of beauty for the ashes.
For us who might be undergoing different difficult circumstances this month of February, “the month of love” as it is referred to many as it the month that Valentine’s Day is celebrated, you might be wondering whether there is any reason to celebrate love after a broken relationship, failed business, unfulfilled dreams, loss of a loved one; the answer is yes! The book of Isaiah can give you the best gift for you and your loved ones this valentines as God takes you through the storms.
Isaiah 61: 1-4 “the spirit of the sovereign lord is on me, because the lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkens for the prisoners to proclaim the year of the lord’s favour and the day of vengeance of our God, to comport all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion – to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair”.
Isaiah was talking to believers in the Old Testament and today God has given us the crown of beauty- his beloved son Jesus Christ for the ashes. Personally I was searching my soul to find a reason to celebrate love without our son this valentine’s day but Holy Spirit of God whispered to me “give your daughter and husband love you have gotten from Jesus – just love Jesus more for them.” Beloved, if you are undergoing a difficult situation and you are a mother and a wife the invaluable gift you can give your family this Valentine’s Day is to love Jesus. It sounds simple and it seems like it should be a no-brainer. I can already hear you saying “Well, I already do love Jesus – but what does that have to do with my husband or my children?” It has everything to do with how you love your husband and your children. When we really love Christ and we take on His attributes we begin to love as He loves. That means you do not just love your family in your own strength. You actually love them as an empowered child of God. When we try to love our family in our flesh, we often are weak, tired and running on empty. Our spirit needs to be renewed by the Word of God and as the love of Christ falls upon us, we are empowered to love others as well. When we love Jesus, we are able to love our children and our husbands as wives as Christ Himself loves them. We love because He first loved us. – 1 John 4:19.
What does loving Jesus look like? When we have an intimate relationship with our Savior, the overflow of His love for us will flood all other relationships. Your children and your husband will begin to see Christ in you and you will radiate God’s love and kindness. On days when I neglect my relationship with Christ, in turn my relationship with my family ultimately suffers. It is so important to manage your time, make sure you are reading the Word and communing with God daily. With the Holy Spirit living within you, you are able to love your family with a selfless, God-honoring love and respect.
If we truly love Jesus we will not only want to spend time with Him, we will crave it.
This Valentine’s Day the greatest way you could love your loved ones is to fall in love with our Savior. I encourage you to examine your relationship with Christ and renew your vow to Him and then in prayer, ask God to strengthen your relationship with your family members. So this Valentine’s Day the valentine gifts, that you will give your loved family members, consider wrapping up a prayer to the Lord and putting it inside their gifts.
Comforting thought for the week
You could be between a hard rock and a hard place today and wondering if you could find meaning of love or to love anyone any more. There is still a reason to love because the one who loves most loves you in and out of season; in the month of February or September. He is the most precious priceless gift to us this valentines and every other day. A gift that will not wither and dry – like the rose flowers, that will never grow old- like a beautiful dress or can be stolen by anyone-like an expensive jewelry. Just a perfect gift for us who are children of God this Valentine’s Day.
Personal prayer for every mother and wife this Valentine’s Month
If you are a mother or a wife pray with me this prayer.
Dear Heavenly Father, please help me to fall even more in love with You. Help my desire for You to grow as I seek You in Your Word. Speak truth and life into me. Allow me to love as you have loved me. Lord, I pray that I will be a reflection of you to my husband and children and I ask that you would bless my marriage. Strengthen us and allow us to be stronger together for Your glory than we ever could be a part. For this we humbly pray in the sacred name of our Lord Jesus. Amen
Happy Valentine’s Day from us and thanks for visiting our website and being part of the big family of Jesus Christ.
