The second thing that we will look at is the mountain.  Mark 11: 24-26;“ have faith in God” Jesus answered “ I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, “ go throw yourself into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.  Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.  And when you stand praying if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your father in heaven may forgive you your sins”

We have looked at the positive side of the fig tree – if it never dried up. If the fig tree (us believers) never dried up and had fruits then one of the vital fruit that God expect us is that we have faith and also have faith and belief in the one he has sent – Jesus ChristWe have to believe in Christ to be saved. If we fail to believe and obey Him, we have no hope for heaven (John 8:24; Matthew 7:21-23). Let us all, with Peter say, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God (Matthew 16:16). After you believe in Jesus Christ he will send you a helper - the Holy Spirit of God.

The other fig fruit is the Holy Spirit of God. He is the real person who knows the thoughts of God and knows the real pain that we undergo here on earth as believers in Jesus Christ.  He gives us comfort when no one can, he exchanges our grumbling for thanksgiving and our bitterness with sufficient joy from heaven – he helps us speak to our mountain. When I felt so much overwhelmed by the memories of our son Holy Spirit of God reminded me that my son was just a gift that God had given me to take care of, to guide, to discipline and to teach God’s ways and he had authority to come and take him without consulting me because he is the only one who has authority over our lives. This gave me the strength and wisdom to speak to my mountain of fear, doubt, bitterness and pain.  I told my mountain it will not immobile and paralyze me but I will speak to it and surely it has gone to the sea. Slowly I was able to understand the difference between speaking to my mountain and speaking about it. Speaking about my mountain would magnify the problem in my mind but speaking to my mountain made me realize the purpose of my creation and the reason for the departure of our son so early.

Another fig fruit is the grace to forgive. The day we lost our son, God gave us the grace to forgive unconditionally all those who were involved around the accident; the driver who caused the accident, school bus driver and the teacher who was concerned with guarding the children to safely cross the road.  This has surely been manifested in the way we handled the whole issue without bitterness.  I can remember talking to the director of the school which our son attended and freely related to Him our forgiveness.  Mark 11:25 “And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive Him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins”

Our minds and souls are at peace knowing that we bear no bitterness to whoever was concerned and it has helped us heal and surely know that one day with continuous cleansing ourselves we shall meet with our son in heaven. We urge all those who may be hurt by anyone to forgive. Failing to forgive builds up guilt and bitterness.  We must realize the stress and anxiety that guilt can cause in our lives.  This guilt comes from not learning and knowing how to forgive. If you are searching for harmony and well being in your life, it is crucial that you learn how to forgive as soon as possible. As Jesus says it’s the only way to speak and make our mountains to be thrown to the sea.Always remember God is not interested in punishing us by undergoing difficult situations in our lives but rather He intends to make that fig tree not to dry up but to let it flourish and give fig fruits which is the only weapon to speak to our mountain.

Comforting thought for the week.

When you are faced with a mountain-sized problem, do not be tempted to run and tell God all about it.  God is not surprised by your mountain!  He already knows and had already seen it before he formed you in your mother’s womb. He has already provided everything you need to overcome it. As usual, your heavenly Father is a million steps ahead of you. Don’t talk to God about your mountain; talk to your mountain about God! Faith doesn’t move God to do what He has already done; faith moves mountains. Praise the Lord for carrying all your infirmities on the cross and then command your mountain to bow to Jesus.
